This is really that bad - and same is in case of IE and Fiefox - both of them. If you use IE or Firefox many hours, so that at least one browser window is all the time open, the, browsers will consume more and more memory.
My comp has 1GB ram and i have seen 280 MB use by Firefox. And that's for one browser window with some pics and simple html code.
Same problem with IE. First i tought that this MUST BE memory leak. Then, searched google and found many people with same complaints.
As many of those posts were from 2004 year, and now is 2005 and i am using newest Firefox and IE versions - wtf then??? Why the fu*k can't browsers do some memory release and garbage collecting from time to time? I don't get it Sad

Interesting - I actually find that Opera can be quite a memory hog at times - less so than IE but still leaxy.

Firefox tends to crash when I have more than a few extra tabs open though.

I dont have a firefox Problem in VMware. Though I guess it depends how good the host box is and how good the specs you can allow on the Virtual Machine. My laptop 500mhz PIII runs firefox fairly slow.

hehhee, yups.. i just think about maybe the developer could "hack" it again so it just consume as tiny as possible from consuming virtual memory.

coz if u trace the child proccess of firefox, i bet not all the child process needed if u only browse some URL *_^

CMIIW apout that :p
