I know lotta ppl dont like it etc. but I really think it helped me alot. These take you from basic steps of echo "hello world" and such stuff, to setting up a forum with mysql backend. Its many hours of videos and you can just sit back relax and watch for some hours.. Nice places to ask for help which I have used is programmingtalk.com, PHP.net IRC chan, and webhostingtalk.com. Those places I usually get my questions answered within minutes.
