At what point can a person call himself a hacker?

I know many ways of hacking/cracking any given system
but the more I learn the more I realize I have so much more to learn.
I keep finding new things and new ways in but there are always systems
that I can't break no matter how I decide to attack the system so I study
and learn and eventually figure out how to exploit the system, sometimes,
not all everytime. So, at what point can I call myself a hacker?

That, to me, is a heavy title. What do you think?

In my opinion hacker is not a title you give yourself. It is given to you by other professionals.

Hacker is able to find new security holes, write his own tools when needed and develope new attack methods.
Probably any hacker starts as skriptkiddie, only small fraction will reach real hacker level.
It needs many free time and dedication, lot's of reading and learning. Hacker is never satisfied with his knowledge level -
there is always something that needs to be learned, discovered or developed.

In my opinion, a hacker should be someone who knows exactly what he's doing at any point. He should keep on trying when he's stuck untill he finds a way. The term hacker is confused with cracking nowadays.
