If I make a remote database connection from my pc or a free host, will this be traced? Lets say I have got a config file that connects to another servers database, would I be better connecting through a shell on the same host?

I'd prefer for it to be on my free host unless this will be dangerous.

Better is to connect from a shell. You >>socks/proxy>>shell>>remote database.Every connect to 3306 port is logging.
